COVID-19 Disaster Payment Expansion

­The NSW Government increased the COVID 19 Disaster Payment and implemented the Rescue Package to help small businesses who have been affected by the lockdown.

The Rescue Package is available to businesses with an annual turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million who can prove a 30% decline in revenue.

The Disaster Payment was increased to $600 for those who meet the eligibility requirements and have lost 20 or more hours of work per week. For those who meet the eligibility requirements and lost between 8 and 20 hours of work a week, they could receive a payment of $375.

The Disaster Payment will increase to $600 if a person has lost 20 or more hours of work per week or $375 if a person has lost between 8 and less than 20 hours of work a week.

2021 COVID-19 Business Grant

The 2021 COVID-19 Business Grant is available for eligible businesses, sole traders and not-for-profit organisations that experienced reduced demand or closure during the lockdown.

Eligible businesses may be entitled to a one-off grant of $7,500, $10,500 or $15,000 to support their cash flow for the first three weeks of the Greater Sydney lockdown.

Eligible applicants across NSW can use the grants for business costs incurred from 1 June 2021, with the full list on the Service NSW website.

Applications close 13 September 2021.

2021 COVID-19 JobSaver

Businesses, sole traders or not-for-profit organisations in NSW that have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 restrictions may be eligible for the 2021 COVID-19 JobSaver payment. The purpose of JobSaver is to provide cash flow support to impacted businesses to help them keep their NSW employee headcount on 13 July 2021.

The Services NSW website outlines that eligible businesses and not-for-profit organisations with employees will receive fortnightly payments backdated to cover costs incurred from week four of the Greater Sydney lockdown (from 18 July 2021 onwards).

The payment will be equivalent to 40% of the weekly payroll for work in NSW, with the minimum payment being $1,500 per week and the maximum payment at $10,000 per week.

2021 COVID-19 Micro-Business Grant

Micro-businesses (small business, sole trader or not-for-profit organisations with aggregated annual turnover between $30,000 and $75,000) who have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 restrictions may be eligible to apply for a fortnightly payment of $1,500 to cover business expenses for the duration of the Greater Sydney lockdown.

The grant provides cash flow support for micro-businesses in NSW who have had their work impacted by the restrictions while continuing to incur business costs.

Jobs Plus Program

The Jobs Plus program offers support to Australian and international businesses looking to start or expand their business in NSW.

Australian businesses that employ 20 or more staff, or international companies with at least 80 employees, may apply for support to start or expand business operations in NSW.
