Small changes to your internal processes and approach to doing business can have a big impact on your business’ success. Here’s nine business resolutions that will help your business grow in 2022.

Revisit your 2021 goals

Consider what your goals were from last year and if they’re still relevant for 2022. It can be easy to start a new year off by closing the door on the previous year, but we can learn a lot from 2021 and use that as the foundation for what we want (or don’t want) 2022 to be.

Create a plan to avoid burnout

It’s normal to want to hit the ground running but you’re more at risk of burning you and your team out by trying to achieve everything in a short time frame. Expect a slow burn among your staff for the first couple of weeks as they resettle back into work. Schedule small catchups with your staff rather than long meetings and prioritise your to-do list in order of what is most important. If things can wait till February, push them back.

Outsource to an expert

Don’t try to do everything yourself, especially within the first month. Look at your tasks and outsource the tasks that can be outsourced to an expert. This will not only save you money and time but will allow you to focus on other areas of your business. By outsourcing to an expert, like Carbon, you can relax knowing your books are in good hands.

Review your business plan

Start the year off right by reviewing your business plan. “Does your business structure still work for you?” and “do your SMART objectives support your business goals?” are just a few questions that you can work on with your accountant. Your business plan isn’t something you only do once. Since it impacts other areas of your business, you need to review your business plan regularly for your business to grow.

Update your business systems and processes

If it’s been more than 12 months since you reviewed your business systems, now is the time to upgrade your applications. With technology advancing every day, there may be something out there that works better for you. Transitioning to the cloud has many benefits from being able to access your data on the go, to automating difficult processes and reducing the time spent on admin tasks. Our team of integrators are trained specialists and can give you recommendations based on your industry and business needs.

Refresh your marketing plan and website

With a new business plan, comes a new marketing plan. Consider what your communication strategy is and think about what you can implement that aligns with your business goals. Blogs are a great way to engage with your audience and if you update it regularly, it can be a powerful tool. In your marketing plan, you should include things like automation, email marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO) and social media.

Review feedback from your customers and prioritise company culture

Listen to your customers and put processes in place to improve your customer service. Customers like to know that they’re being heard so make sure that you thank them for their feedback and are working hard to better the customer service experience.

Make sure your staff feel welcome to express their opinions. Having a good company culture will make your staff excited to come to work and improve the overall morale of your business.

Expand your network

Make new connections this year by attending networking events and getting involved within your community. Word-of-mouth is a powerful way to get referrals so do your best to be actively involved in growing your business.

Develop your skills

Take this time to focus on developing your skills. Look into what online classes, webinars, workshops, and podcasts are available to you. Work not only on your business skills but consider your leadership and soft skills. What you learn can then be taught to your employees, which will create a stronger team on all fronts.
