About Crimea Quality Meats and The Panini Bar Gourmet Market
Crimea Quality Meats is a family-owned local butcher in Morley, WA run by Joe and Anna Difulvio. For over 45 years, they have been providing top-quality meat to their customers and are most known for their sausages. They were the first butcher in Western Australia to achieve National Sausage King Hall of Fame in 2010. To secure this coveted mark of distinction, a butcher must win at least three National competitions held annually by the Australian Meat Industry Council. (If you’re ever in the area, make sure you stop by to try their lamb fetta and chive sausages, you won’t be disappointed!)
Next door to them is The Panini Bar Gourmet Market, a specialty deli and gourmet food store owned by their daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Colin Turnbull. The Panini Bar Gourmet Market opened in 2019 and offers a range of fresh panini sandwiches, salads, charcuterie, cheese, antipasti and other high-quality products. They also offer catering services for events and functions.
Both Crimea Quality Meats and The Panini Bar Gourmet Market have a loyal customer base and are known not only for their high-quality products but also for their exceptional customer service.
When Crimea Quality Meats’ old accountant retired they were left in a difficult position. They wanted to find a new accountant that was proactive and had the necessary skills and knowledge to answer their questions. Most importantly, they wanted a partnership and for their accountant to genuinely care about their business. It was also crucial they found someone who understood potential tax implications and could provide expert accounting advice. This was especially important for a small business like Crimea Quality Meats, where every dollar counts.
Both Crimea Quality Meats and The Panini Bar Gourmet Market needed accounting solutions that were efficient, reliable and effective. For The Panini Bar Gourmet Market, the challenge of running a small business was intensified by the fact that they were just starting out. Linda and Colin had to learn the ropes of entrepreneurship while navigating the difficulties of running a new business. On top of running a business (which is hard for any new business owner), The Panini Bar Gourmet Market was also heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For many years Crimea Quality Meats and The Panini Bar Gourmet Market had been working with accounting and financial planning firm, Haydon Kinnaird. In 2021, Carbon Group and Haydon Kinnaird joined forces and we welcomed both families to the team. Former business owner, Barry Haydon, was looking for a retirement strategy which ensured that his clients would continue to receive the personalised assistance he had been providing them over many years. This is where the team at Carbon stepped in to help continue their business journey.
How Carbon Helped
Carbon is a multi-service firm that offers a range of accounting, tax and business advisory services as well as bookkeeping, financial planning, insurance and finance and lending support. “The team were easy to talk to and accessible which made the transition from our old accountant to them seamless,” said Anna Difulvio, Crimea Quality Meats.
At Carbon, we pride ourselves on our large network and how we can help other businesses benefit from other professional services. “With bigger and more resources at their disposal, we were able to visit their office and be introduced to other businesses that could help us,” said Joe Difulvio, Crimea Quality Meats.
Linda and Colin from the Panini Bar Gourmet Market had many questions and concerns about running their new business and sought guidance and peace of mind. The accounting team’s approach when we transition clients during a partnership is to always be available and supportive because we understand that this can be a stressful time.
For both Crimea Quality Meats and The Panini Bar Gourmet Market, we offer a range of accounting and tax services such as business tax returns, tax planning, personal tax returns, quarterly BAS lodgment, general superannuation advice and instalment activity statement (IAS) returns. We also provide them with ad hoc business advisory services including advice on cash flow management, budgeting and strategic planning. We use our meetings to answer any questions the Difulvio/Turnbull families may have so that they leave the meeting feeling confident and in control of their business and finances.
“Carbon has always provided us with a tailored and personalised approach that I appreciate. When you first start out as a business owner, you’ve got a lot of little questions that you sometimes feel silly about asking but with them, no question was too small and they always made time for me,” said Linda Turnbull, The Panini Bar Gourmet Market, “What I like most about Carbon is the level of support and confidence. I have a lot of faith in them and am happy to have them on my business journey.”
