At Carbon, we believe growth—be it for our clients or our team—is most important. The recent promotions of two Carbonites, Maree Hornsby and Shaun Ward, solidify our commitment to growing from within. Their rise from initial roles as Accountant and Bookkeeper to Partners highlights the opportunities we offer to dedicated and passionate Carbonites looking to boost their career.

Maree Hornsby: From Client Manager to Bookkeeping & CFO Services Partner

Maree joined Carbon Mount Waverley in 2017 as a Client Manager in our Bookkeeping & CFO Services Division. With her dedication and unmatched skill set, she quickly made her mark paving her way to becoming a Partner in 2023. Working closely with Allison Gardiner, our leading Bookkeeping & CFO Services Partner in Melbourne, Maree’s partnership demonstrates the limitless growth possibilities on offer at Carbon.

“Maree’s rise to a Partner role didn’t surprise me one bit. From the beginning, her positive attitude and drive stood out.” Allison Gardiner, Bookkeeping & CFO Services Partner.

Before starting her journey at Carbon, Maree developed invaluable experience at reputable organisations such as Bunnings, Subway and the ABS. She has extensive experience working with small and medium businesses in a variety of industries including legal, retail and trade. As a Registered BAS Agent and holding a Certificate IV in Accounting, Maree’s deep-rooted understanding of complex financial issues stands as testament to her expertise. Maree has expertly guided Carbon Mount Waverley’s clients through complex financial challenges, strengthening our reputation in the region.

Shaun Ward: Climbing New Heights as Accounting & Tax Partner

Shaun has been working in the accounting industry since 2015 and has been a Carbonite since 2020. Starting as an Accountant, he progressed to Senior Associate and by July 2023 he made the big move to Accounting & Tax Partner. “Every step of my journey at Carbon has been exciting but stepping into the role of Accounting & Tax Partner tops it all. I’m thrilled for the road ahead and being more involved with clients.” Shaun Ward.

Shaun brought with him not just qualifications like a Bachelor of Commerce but a genuine passion for client success. Working closely with Accounting & Tax Partner Inga Jarick, his rise to Accounting & Tax Partner strengthens Carbon’s presence in Gympie. With expertise in rural/agribusinesses, SMSF, tax compliance and business advisory, Shaun brings a wealth of knowledge to his clients. “When Shaun joined us, he had clear goals in mind and was motivated to do his best to achieve them. It’s been fantastic introducing him to clients and seeing the value he brought to the table.” Inga Jarick, Accounting & Tax Partner.

Fostering Growth Within Carbon Group

Both Maree and Shaun embody Carbon’s core values – growth, dedication and delivering proactive and tailored solutions to clients. “From my initial days at Carbon, I’ve always felt a strong sense of community and opportunity. Stepping up to a Partner role is a dream come true and I can’t wait to make even more of a difference for our clients and the team.” Maree Hornsby.

Their journey from their initial roles to becoming Partners mirror Carbon’s philosophy of fostering talent and providing avenues within the company for our Carbonites to grow. As they guide our Gympie and Mount Waverley offices towards greater success, Carbon stands proud and confident of our commitment to quality service and continuous growth.
