Businesses in today’s day and age have found that social media and search engine optimisation allow better visibility for their products and brand. With Google still reigning as the world’s top search engine, Google reviews have become an essential component for propelling business success.
People Share Their Experiences
“Welcome to a new era of marketing and service in which your brand is defined by those who experience it.” Is a famous quote coming from Brian Solis, a pro in social media. Having that in mind, influence coming from online customer reviews have become a marketing campaign in themselves. To be able to win in the digital market, your business constantly needs new reviews. A research report from Zendesk even found that almost an astounding 90% of customers looked at reviews which impacted their decision-making process whenever trying out a new product or service.
Why Google Reviews?
64% of all searches worldwide are all done on Google, and that includes looking for businesses like yours around the local scene. Whenever these potential customers would use this search engine, reviews and star ratings are also included in the search result. While Google also includes reviews from other review sites like Yelp, the change in algorithm has made it so that users will be able to see Google reviews before any other third party review site. Having several reviews and star ratings from your customers also tells Google that your business is popular and active – which they reward with better search rankings. If your business does not have enough reviews on Google, then rating stars would not be displayed, meaning it’s super important to get your clients to leave you positive reviews on a regular basis.
How Do I Start?
Now that we’ve explained why Google reviews are an absolute necessity, we have three tips to get you started on getting those reviews:
- Claim your Google MyBusiness profile – If you have not yet created a listing on Google My Business yet and have been running shop for a while, Google might have already created a listing for you. If this is the case, then you would need to claim this listing and check if the information stored on your listing is accurate.
- Optimize your Google MyBusiness profile – Try to maximise your Google listing as much as possible. This means filling out all the fields, uploading business images, hours of operation, services, etc.
- Verify your business location with Google – Once you sign up for a Google My Business profile, Google will send you a verification code that you will need to type into your business listing. This is for verifying that your business address does exist and is accurate.
Always encourage your customers to leave reviews about the service or product you have offered. You could set up monthly challenges within your team to see who can get the most reviews posted. Make it a habit to reply to customer reviews whether they are positive or negative, and leave one for your client in return if they have a business. In the end, it’s all up to you how you can encourage people to write reviews for your business and help make it rise in the cutthroat digital world of search engine marketing.
While we’re on the topic, we’d love it if you could leave Carbon Group a review! Visit our Google My Business profile to get started.
