Our proud history
Carbon was launched in 2014 by Jamie Davison and Nathan Hood, who together shared a vision on how they could help business owners achieve their goals. Find out more about Carbon’s history.
In 2019, our Osborne Park team expanded when we partnered with Rise Business Solutions. Accounting Partner Dom Papaluca and Carbon co-founder Nathan Hood had a long history, having worked together at Nathan’s firm, Sterling Accountants, before he launched Carbon.
In 2020, we moved slightly down the road, but maintained our grassroots in Osborne Park. Our new head office is packed with everything you’d expect from a Carbon office: Busy accountants, bookkeepers and financial people, and of course, table tennis and a pool table!

Each quarter we host our charity poker nights where we raise money for charity. Once a year we go all in and hold our annual Big Charity Poker which always draws a full house in the spirit of helping a charity.

Nathan Hood

Nathan bought into Sterling Accountants in 2006 and then co-founded Carbon with Jamie in 2014. Nathan was the foundation to our accounting team in Perth, and leads our accountants in Osborne Park. He finds it extremely rewarding to work with business owners to improve their profitability and watch their companies grow.

Michelle became a Carbonite in late 2017 as an accounting and bookkeeping partner.

Clinton is one our our accountants in Perth. He is a CA with a B.Com from Curtin University who joined Sterling in 2006 and now meets taxation and business development challenges head-on.

Dom Papaluca is a CPA who started his accounting career with some big corporates, before launching his own accounting firm in Perth; Rise Business Solutions. Dom merged Rise with Carbon in 2019, after having previously worked with our co-founder Nathan Hood at Sterling Accountants.

With 11 years' experience in the industry and his whole family having a medical background, Matthew is no stranger to working with medical professionals. His favourite part of his day is helping his clients understand tax and joining the gaps in their knowledge to empower them. His perfect weekend includes dinner out with his wife and a glass (or bottle) of wine. James has travelled to many places, but still believes Perth is the best place to be. He is a jazz fan, and even plays the saxophone!

Jamie became a Carbonite in 2015 after majoring in Accounting and Economics in a Bachelor of Business at ECU. When he's not crunching numbers and looking after clients, you can find him coaching his footy team and keeping them in line. As one of our top table tennis players, we don't recommend challenging Jamie to a game unless you have the skills to back it up.

Her favourite place that she has travelled to is Singapore, where she was mesmerised by the Gardens by the Bay which reminded her of the movie Avatar. Originally from Russia, Mila now calls Perth home.

Madelein had a complete career change, and studied in Australia to gain her Cert IV Financial Services, later achieving her MYOB and Xero certification. Her hobbies include a glass (or two) of wine with friends, and speeding on her jet ski.

Outside of work, Ainslie enjoys cooking, the beach and running. She’s even run a marathon!

Ryan takes an advice-based approach to mortgage broking, liaising with the respective experts to ensure his clients’ lending strategy compliments their other investments.
